Women ‘better DIY gurus than men’

Women are taking over the traditional male role of doing ‘do it yourself’ jobs around the home, a new report suggests.

Researchers believe the main reason for women taking up tools is that they are fed up of waiting for their other halves to fix things.

Customer research by Tesco found nearly two-in-three women (60 per cent) are now shopping for DIY items – three times as many as a decade ago (20 per cent).
Garden centre, Dobbies, reported sales of ladies gardening accessories were also up.

Spokeswoman Gail McGibbon, added: “In the last 12 months sales of pink ladies garden secateurs, pink handled trowels, pink garden gloves and pink kneeler pads are up as much as 170 per cent.

I just love that their measure is how many pink tools they’re selling?!:P
