Police get trapped trying to rescue man… who was trapped

Two officers raced to the scene when an alarm went off.
One managed to open an escape hatch and squeezed inside to check the guard was all right. Then the hatch jammed and he was locked in with him.
His police colleague managed to get into the driving compartment at the front and then got stuck too.
The incident was captured on camera by 21-year-old Craig Scott, who said: “It was one of the funniest things I have seen.”
The drama in Gillingham, Kent began when the doors, windows and escape hatch of the van locked and the driver was unable to get out.
As the alarm went off, passing shoppers could hear a voice saying: “This van is under attack. Please call the police.”
Craig said: “I kept thinking some TV presenter and a camera crew will come along in a minute. It was hilarious – like a scene out of the Keystone Cops.”
A Kent Police spokesman said they were alerted to an alarm going off in a security van at Twydall Green, Gillingham.
