BA pilot accidentally sets off emergency water landing alarm

The pilot managed to hit the wrong button in the cockpit, triggering an automatic announcement that warned passengers: ‘This is an emergency announcement.
‘We may shortly need to make an emergency landing on water.’
275 terrified passengers flying from Heathrow to Hong Kong began to prepare for a crash landing, before the cabin crew ran into the cabin to clarify the mistake.
Passenger Michelle Lord of Preston, Lancashire, told The Sun: ‘People were terrified, we all thought we were going to die. They said the pilot hit the wrong button because they were so close together.’
British Airways has apologised for the incident.
