Baby discovered in plane toilet bin

A new-born boy was discovered in the bin of an aircraft toilet, having been discarded by his mother on board a flight from Saudi Arabia to the Philippines.
Investigators believe the mother gave birth in the toilet of the Gulf Air jet flying from Bahrain and swiftly left the aircraft upon arrival.
The discovery was made when a security officer at Manila airport noticed something moving in a rubbish bag and was shocked to find a baby covered in blood and tissue. Doctors checked on the child who was rushed to an airport clinic, and despite his traumatic short life, he was in good health.
While the search for the mother begins, the baby is recovering in hospital and has been given the name George Francis, after the airline code GF. The crew have all contributed to buying clothes and other necessities for the baby.
Authorities were shocked that the birth went unnoticed by other passengers and that no one that used the toilet remarked upon anything out of the ordinary in the cubicle.
The Department of Social welfare and Development are giving the mother a chance to come forward and claim the child, if relatives of the baby can be contacted, he will be handed into their care.
Social welfare secretary Corazon Soliman said: “I was simply outraged, no infant should be treated that way”.
