Live grenade found under pile of clothes in teenage boy’s room

When the 16-year-old’s father tried to bring a bit of order to his son’s messy room by tidying a pile of clothes, old comic books and broken toys lying in the bottom of his wardrobe, he found a live World War II grenade buried in the pile.
The horrified dad immediately called the emergency services.
What’s more, the grenade had apparently been sitting there for a whole year – when police were called to the family home in Kuchl, Austria, they were told that the boy had found the grenade on a trip to the beaches of Normandy in France a year earlier.
He had decided to bring it home with him, without telling his parents.
