Soldiers on CCTV ‘trying to burgle medical marijuana dispensary

The US soldiers, who are all in their early 20s, were allegedly captured on CCTV breaking into Rocky Road Remedies, Colorado Springs, before becoming trapped inside.
The footage showed the burglars, who were wearing dark outfits and ski masks, and brandishing crow bars, panicking as they realised the building’s doors had locked.
As an alarm sounded, they were promptly spotted by police officers who happened to be investigating a separate call-out at the next-door shop.

Darius Thomas, 23, Cory Young, 22, and Ramone Holling, 22, were arrested on suspicion of second degree burglary. All three are soldiers stationed at the nearby Fort Carson military base.
The men forced open the facility’s back door at about 2am on Saturday, only to have it close and lock behind them.
Sergeant Mark DeVorss, of the Colorado Springs police, said: “The burglars had jimmied the door to the point where they disabled it, so they couldn’t get out and we couldn’t get in.” The front door of the facility was reinforced with iron bars, meaning the men could not force their way out.
Officers had to break into the building in order to arrest the suspects. “To their credit, they were compliant with us,” Mr DeVorss said.
Renze Waddington, the owner of the dispensary, said the burglars appeared in the CCTV footage “running around like rats in a maze”.
Mr Waddington said they would not have been able to steal his marijuana even if they had managed exit the building. “The medicine is locked in a safe overnight,” he said
